How to Avoid a Charleston Tourism Hit The Charleston area may be known for being a hotspot for the city’s booming tourism industry, but many are still wondering how they can afford to stay at the city while still enjoying the city and its vibrant downtown.
The Charleston Chamber of Commerce is working on a guide to help locals avoid the pitfalls that some are seeing and some are experiencing while in the city.
The guide includes information about hotels, restaurants, museums and attractions, as well as tips on how to stay safe and stay productive.
The city is also offering a $500 discount for visitors who take advantage of its “Be A Tourist” promotion, which will run until Sept. 10.
The promotion, run by the Charleston Chamber, allows visitors to receive a coupon for a free night at any of four hotels, as long as they stay at least 30 days.
If you’re looking to stay for longer than 30 days, the hotel rate is $150 per night.
If your budget is tight, the Charleston Marriott is offering a discount for up to two nights per person.
If, however, you’re not sure whether you can stay in Charleston for the full 30 days in order to make the best use of your time, the Chamber recommends staying in a city with a shorter-term hotel rate.
The Chamber’s Charleston Tourism Guide will help people avoid the many pitfalls of Charleston while enjoying the vibrant downtown, including: How to minimize hotel and restaurant billings How to maximize the value of your stay How to stay on top of any unexpected hotel and restaurants fees How to manage your savings and avoid spending on food How to protect yourself from scams, bad service, and overpriced goods How to keep a budget and minimize expenses when shopping How to navigate the city safely How to ensure you’re comfortable and well-rested when planning your trip How to take advantage if you have a medical emergency or need to leave town
