A couple of years ago, I had the chance to spend time with a local travel blogger named Daniele Gagliardi in Memphis.
He’d been living in the city for the past few years, having spent a few months there a couple of times during the tourist boom that followed the 2009 earthquake.
During our conversation, he explained how Memphis, home to the University of Memphis, had changed for the better in recent years.
I thought about the city’s growth over the years.
I realized that Memphis had become a tourist magnet.
Now, it’s a little different.
Gagliardi also shared a couple interesting stats about Memphis, including that its median age is 30, the city has the lowest murder rate in the state, and its per capita income is almost $1,500 lower than the state average.
All of this helped me think about the potential for Memphis to grow more quickly.
So I decided to try to figure out what’s happening in Memphis right now, in a way that’s accessible to everyone.
After some research, I came up with some key things to look out for in Memphis, from the most recent tourism data to the most up-to-date trends.
