Travel experts at the National Geographic Society have been helping visitors plan their next vacation to the country for years.
The Society has partnered with travel website Expedia to help guide travelers through the most popular options, from Airbnb to the popular Philippine-specific hotel industry, so you can stay at the right hotels, host your own guests and enjoy the experience.
But the experts say you’ll find that the choices are still varied, with some options having more stringent requirements than others.
Here are a few tips for making the most of your vacation time in the Philippines.

Stay in one of the country’s best hotels 1.
The Manila Metro is one of Expedia’s most popular destinations for travel, but many hotels in the city also offer Airbnb and other Airbnb-style lodging options.
If you have an existing reservation, consider the option of staying in one the more affordable, popular hotels in Manila.
If not, consider staying in a new one and renting out your room for your next visit.
The most popular Airbnb destinations for travelers in Manila are the Bautista Hotel, Mandalay Bay Hotel and Hotel Negril, which are all available at Bautisa, Mandalaya and Negril.

Use a private room at an Airbnb hostel, guesthouse or hotel If you’re planning to stay in a guesthouse, hostel or hotel room in Manila, you’ll want to stay at one of these hotels.
These hotels will all offer some kind of amenities, such as free Wi-Fi, complimentary coffee and complimentary snacks.
If the hostel has an online booking system, you can also rent out your rooms, as well as get your passport stamped.
If your destination is in a metropolitan area, such the center of Manila, it’s a good idea to use a hotel near a metro stop to save money.
If hotel owners and hotel management are not friendly to Airbnb hosts, consider moving to another hostel and booking a room through Airbnb.
Stay at a designated hotel for a short stay or stay longer If you plan to stay longer than your allotted stay at a hostel in Manila and you’d like to save some money by renting out a room at a hotel instead, consider booking a private hotel room.
The standard rates for private rooms in Manila range from between P1,500 to P2,500 per night.
If booking through Airbnb, be sure to check out the availability of room types and accommodations.
Airbnb hosts will pay you upfront for the room.
You’ll then be given a receipt for your stay.
You can use this receipt to book your room at another hostlered hotel.

Stay away from the airport or other large venues When traveling to the Philippine capital, it is recommended that you stay away from big venues, such a sports stadiums, convention centers and other large buildings.
If these places are closed, you will find yourself waiting in long lines to be let into these places.
If possible, make your way to one of Manila’s many designated hotels or guesthouses instead of the airport, which can be inconvenient and difficult to access.
Choose an Airbnb rental site with strict rules 1.
In order to avoid scams, stay away on Airbnb from venues that have been identified by authorities as venues that could become a source of trouble for travelers.
Some Airbnb hosts are very clear about these rules, and if you’re a local, you should take it seriously.
For instance, Airbnb hosts should not allow guests from countries with higher crime rates to stay there.

Avoid sharing your home with others if possible Airbnb hosts have strict rules that prevent hosts from sharing their rooms with guests from other countries.
For example, hosts must not rent out rooms to guests from China or Mexico.
Airbnb is a great way to share your home, but don’t share your room with others.
Airbnb also forbids guests from using the platform for their own personal gain.
[Insight] 3, Use an online reservation system to save time and money When booking a hotel room through the Airbnb platform, you are required to fill out a short online reservation.
The process takes just a few minutes and requires no input from you or anyone else.
The reservation is filled out by an Airbnb reservation system user.
You’re then asked to confirm your name, email address and a password.
This information is stored on your device, and you can access it through the booking page on the Airbnb website.
[Bing Travel] 4, Avoid sharing hotels with family members If you decide to share a hotel with a friend or relative, it should be an exception to Airbnb’s rules.
If Airbnb hosts ask you to rent out their room for a family member or friend, be aware that the host will be charged a fee if they are not paid in full.
